I will give you personalized instructions after your preview, but here are a few helpful bits to help you be prepared for your wedding morning!

Hydrated hair is our best bet for resisting humidity!

Plan to have your hair trimmed regularly - to keep your ends healthy, so your style doesn’t look rough with split ends!

We’ll go over details on this at your preview, but keep this in mind to begin a healthy hair care routine as soon as possible.

Product Recommendations

Hydrated hair is our best bet for resisting humidity -

Pureology Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner (not the sheer).

A lightweight, leave-in conditioner like Color Wow Money Mist is a great base product to prevent dry, frizzy strands.

For Blowdrying - A Volumizing Mousse such as Aquage Uplifting Foam or Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse in the roots to mid lengths & Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Creme for the mid lengths and ends.

For very frizzy hair, I like the Moroccanoil Frizz Shield Spray but if you have a tried and true product you love, please feel free to use it!

I highly recommend trying any new products out before wedding day so you know how much to use and how they work with your hair!

Getting Ready Outfits

When choosing/advising ‘Getting Ready’ outfits for you and your guests… please keep in mind that collars and textured fabrics will rub on low buns and down styles causing them to fall out. Choose silky, satiny fabrics. Do not choose tops that need to be pulled over the head.

For example super soft Modal cotton or these Bamboo PJ Sets are nice too if you’re buying for your Bridesmaids/Moms.

Your Veil

Please be aware of what type of comb your veil has (this also goes for other hair pieces as well as flowers and flower crowns). Choose metal over plastic. Your veil may need to be altered if you’d like to wear your veil underneath your style rather than above it.

What To Expect At Your Preview

We’ll plan on AT LEAST 2 hours for your preview appointment! Although it may only take me a portion of that time to style your hair - some of how long the appointment takes depends on how much time we spend going over questions and details, making any adjustments and taking photos. I don’t schedule anything immediately after your preview in case we do need a little extra time - and also so we don’t feel rushed and get the opportunity to accomplish everything we need to!

Although your preview is a chance for you to see the style you want for your wedding day on yourself - your preview is not just an appointment to have your hair styled. It is also not an audition. My hope is that by the time you inquire, you’ve reviewed the information on my website and seen enough of my work to feel confident that I can offer you the hair style and bridal hair experience you’ve been dreaming of!

Your preview is actually just as much for me as it is for you! We can look at your hair and your inspo photos and aim to style your hair in a similar manner, but what’s really important during your preview - is the opportunity I have to get to know your hair! I might guess and check products and/or techniques so that I can create a plan to achieve the style you’re going for and I might try different size curling irons or curl patterns. All so I can see what works or what I might plan to do differently, so that when it’s game time on your wedding day, I have what I need to create your wedding day hair style so that it that it looks the best it possibly can and last as long as possible on top of that!

*Because of the potential for adjustments - I don’t tend to suggest scheduling previews before engagement photos. If you will be planning to schedule those events on the same day, please let me know in advance and we can discuss options. My recommendation is to schedule them separately.

Previews are only available for the Bride. If your Mom or any of your Guests have questions or are unsure of how they want to style their hair - I’m very happy to answer any questions via email or text or even schedule a video chat if they’d like!

I have a home studio just North of Traverse City and am available Monday - Thursday. I can accommodate early appointments as well as evenings. I may be able to take appointments on select Fridays November - April (inquire for specific dates) but I am not available for previews on weekends.
